Good news, all you giant Harry Potter nerds! JK Rowling is giving you the only Christmas present you’re going to care about this year, announcing that she’ll be dropping twelve short stories set in the Harry Potter universe in time for Christmas. Starting on December 12, one story a day will be released on fan site Pottermore, ensuring you’ll have fully regressed to your eleven-year-old self by the time Christmas rolls around.

Fansite Snitchseeker posted the news, and quoted from a newsletter sent out to Pottermore subscribers: “according to a mass newsletter sent to fans, [the short stories] will include new content on Draco Malfoy and Florean Fortescue, owner of the ice cream parlour in Diagon Alley”. FINALLY, am I right? How long did we have to wait to hear more about the person who owns the magical ice cream shop?

Pottermore’s Facebook event page has more details, including that you’ll have to answer rhyming riddles to get your hands on the stories and  that you need to sign up to Pottermore properly to read them. If it pans out anything like the last Harry Potter short story thing, though, it’ll take about two minutes before they’re all over the internet like a big happy rash, so maybe hold off on signing up unless you just can’t wait that long.
