J.K. Rowling Is Fighting With A Man Who Makes Wands, Because He Doesn’t Like Harry Potter Fans

Just trying to distract themselves from Brexit, I guess.

England still has to come to grips with that whole Brexit disaster thing, and so to distract themselves they have instead decided to focus their attention on bigger issues like: “is magic real?”.

This is England.

Recently British paper The Sun, interviewed a gent called Richard Carter who runs a shop called Mystical Moments in West Yorkshire. Richard makes wands which he says exhibit real magical properties, and can be used to “draw protective circles, ward off dark forces while owners meditate, bring them money or help them find love”. Cool! However Richard also said some very shady things about Harry Potter fans coming into his shop. “I don’t have customers who have been Harry Potterfied,” he says.

“If I had someone come in wanting a wand just because they liked Harry Potter I would not sell them one, no matter how much they were offering.”

Woah, a bit harsh Richard! Because J.K. Rowling is on Twitter much, much more than she needs to be, she immediately jumped into the fray with an incredibly savage response.

Now Richard has come back and said he didn’t mean it; Harry Potter fans are cool with him! “I said that if Harry Potter fans wanted a wand they should go on eBay because what they’re basically after is a toy. But I have not banned them from the shop,” he told The Huddersfield Daily Examiner (a made up paper if I’ve ever heard one).

“I have nothing against Harry Potter and actually liked the films. The wands I make though, whether you believe it or not, are real and spiritual.”

Well, case closed, I guess!
