‘Broad City’ Star Ilana Glazer Is Coming To Australia Next Month To Be Funny On Stage
No word yet on whether she's going to Yass.
Yassssss, Queen: Ilana Glazer is coming to Australia this June, to perform stand-up comedy here for the first time ever.
In three weeks, Broad City‘s co-star and co-creator will broach our shores for a show at Melbourne’s Hammer Hall on June 9. Yes, it’s just one show — and it’s unlikely there’ll be any surprise stand-up gigs in other cities. Not even for Yass.
The show is billed as an exclusive as part of MEL&NYC, an arts festival by the National Gallery of Victoria which brings Big Apple artists to the city of big woollen yarn.
According to Glazer, it’s an hour of “stand-up, hangin’ and goofin’… to delight ya and to tear the patriarchy a new asshole,” which has sold us.
Glazer and her Broad City co-star Abbi Jacobson have both been focusing on other projects lately, ahead of their show’s fifth-and-final season next year. Glazer’s just come off a US stand-up tour and starred in a couple films, while Jacobson has revisited her roots as an artist, releasing a book of illustrations and hosting the excellent art podcast A Piece Of Work.
But the pair aren’t parting ways yet. Together they’ll work on two more shows for Comedy Central — Mall Town USA and Young Professionals. Glazer’s also collaborating with her brother Eliot on Platinum Status, a show about a gay back-up singer living in Los Angeles.
In the meantime, tickets for Glazer’s Melbourne show are already on sale.
