In The Dark Tower, Idris Elba plays a revolver-wielding loner in a post apocalyptic wasteland, while Matthew McConaughey plays his nemesis, a demonic presence dressed all in black. So yeah, if you’re not on board with this movie by now then I really don’t know how to help you.

Adapted from Stephen King’s epic series of novels, the film has been in development in some form or another for at least a decade. That said, certain people on the internet are unhappy with the casting of Elba as a character who was written as white. These people are silly. In the words of the film’s producer Akiva Goldsman, “racist assholes should go fuck themselves.”

Anyway, Elba and McConaughey actually teased the trailer yesterday via an extremely dorky Twitter thread.

Look, I realise the exchange was probably concocted by marketing interns, but the idea that Elba and McConaughey are best friends in real life makes me indescribably happy. Now please enjoy this very cool looking trailer.

The Dark Tower hits cinemas in Australia on August 17.
