For someone who isn’t meant to age, Wolverine is looking pretty bloody haggard in the first trailer for his super serious new movie. Set to the strains of the Johnny Cash cover of ‘Hurt’, the teaser for Logan sees the adamantium-clawed antihero wandering a post-apocalyptic world in which mutants are a thing of the past and everybody has a beard.

Also featured: a sickly looking Professor X and a little girl who needs protecting from men with guns. It’s all very intense.

Aside from the grimdark tone seen in this trailer, there are a couple of notable things about Logan. Firstly, it’ll be Hugh Jackman’s tenth and final time playing the character, with the actor confirming that it was time to hang up the claws.

Secondly, it’s the first X-Men movie to go for an R rating in the United States, which means you can expect a lot more violence. Call it the Deadpool effect. In any case, it makes sense, given that the title character literally has knives for hands.

Logan hits cinemas in March next year.
