If you only watch seven minutes of television this week, make sure it’s Anne Edmonds’ appearance on The Project. The stand-up comedian stopped by the studio in one of the brightly coloured sarongs of her emotionally fragile alter ego, Helen Bidou, and the interview that followed was… quite something.

Best known for her work on The ABC’s Get Krack!n, Bidou was ostensibly on the show to talk about her recent career pivot from fashion to stand-up comedy. But things quickly turned south, as she got into a shouting match with host Tommy Little before breaking down in tears.

She also accused Carrie Bickmore of stealing her Gold Logie before making fun of her outfit.

Things only got worse when Peter Helliar brought up the royal wedding. “I don’t like Meghan and I don’t like Kate, because they’re not a patch on Diana, and they never will be” she said, before welling up again. “And I will never forgive the Queen for what she did when Diana died. She didn’t come out of the castle, she didn’t lay a wreath.

“PAY YOUR RESPECTS! DO SOMETHING! THE PEOPLE’S PRINCESS! MEGHAN, I HATE YOU, AND I HATE KATE!” she screamed suddenly, before running off the stage.

Admittedly, not everyone was a fan of the segment.

You can watch Bidou’s appearance via this link, starting at around the 37 minute mark. Trust me, it’s worth it.
