Sorry Kochie and Karl, but the true heroes of Australian breakfast are coming back — Get Krack!n has announced a second season.

Get Krack!n, in kase you’ve been under a rock, is the absurdist parody of Sunrise and Today from Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney, which premiered last year on ABC iView.

The show took swipes at the bizarre ‘everywoman’ personas of breakfast show hosts — set at 3am, Get Krack!n positions the Kates as two aspiring actors pushed to their limits by a need to be perky to the point of aneurysm.

It’s utterly bonkers and incredibly funny — and a shout out must be made to the Waiting For Godot-esque episode where the Kates await special guest Katy Perry. It also cuts through the asinine air of early morning television shows, as punchlines point towards the absurd expectations upon women in Australian media: to be pretty yet plain, fun yet boring, smart yet approachable.

In a Facebook post, the Kates announced that the show was returning to the ABC for a second season in early 2019, which frankly, feels like a lifetime away. Ever wise, they remind us that “time is a construct”.

Breakking news, Krackers. It’s official, we, The Kates™, YOUR Kates™, are koming bakk for a 2nd season!! In early 2019, which might seem like a while away, but time is a construct. Hang tight. Khat sooooooon.

No news on whether Anne Edmonds’ sarong-loving alter-ego Helen Bidou will return for her shopping segment, but we have high hopes. Then again, given her pivot to stand-up and extremely memorable appearance on The Project, we hope she doesn’t forget her roots.
