NOTE: this post contains spoilers for the upcoming fifth season of Game Of Thrones, as well as for the fifth book in the series, A Dance With Dragons. You have been warned.

If you’re a Game Of Thrones fan, and you don’t like your TV adaptations straying very far from their source material, you’re gonna have a bad time. New photos from the GoT Season Five set in Spain show two major characters chilling with each other — despite not even having met up in the books yet.

Yep. That’s Tyrion and Daenerys, just hangin’ out at some brutal gladiatorial contest. If you’re up-to-date with your reading you’ll know that Tyrion’s been heading for Meereen for a while now, but he hasn’t actually met Daenerys yet. Clearly the TV show is cutting big old chunks out of ADwD’s admittedly bloated storyline, and in the process leapfrogging over the books in terms of where the plot’s at.

Also, in said gladiatorial fight thing? Check who it is, courtesy of Comic Book Movie:

BOOM. It’s Ser Friendzone. He’s not meant to show up back in front of Daenerys ever, or at least for a good while, but here he is fighting in the Meereen slave pits presumably cutting off people’s heads, smearing himself in their blood, looking up at Daenerys and screaming “for you! For yoooooooou!”
