We’re looking for a travel editor, an inthemix staff writer, a mid-weight designer and an account manager. If one of those titles has a nice ring to it, read on.

Travel Editor

Australia’s leading youth publishing and communications company is looking for a full time Travel Editor to join our team.

Sound Alliance owns and operates FasterLouder, inthemix, Same Same, Mess+Noise and Mumbrella’s 2014 Media Brand of The Year, Junkee, as well as representing titles Pitchfork, NME and The Hype Machine in Australia. Together, these titles have a combined monthly unique audience of more than 1.7 million Australians.

We’re searching for an exceptional Editor with travel writing experience who can help us create and shape the tone of voice of travel writing at Sound Alliance. The ideal candidate will be a super fast writer with the ability to nail the right tone of each piece, delivering consistently high quality copy each time, every time. As well as writing daily travel news and features, you will also be in charge of a team of enthusiastic writers in commissioning great travel features and editing. You’ll be well versed in social media and how to get your content seen as widely as possible, so a proven track record of amplifying content digitally will be looked upon very favourably. As well as the daily content you’ll be responsible for regular in-depth longform travel features to explore entire destinations or themes through words, photos and video.

You’ll be able to write travel content that stands out from the crowd, with a keen nose for what makes great local and international news, plus how to find the angle that’s going to most interest Sound Alliance’s 18 to 35 year-old audience who love to travel.

The ideal candidate will have several years of real-world experience writing and editing travel content. An obsessive love for correct grammar and aversion to dangling modifiers is required. We’re looking for someone who has a unique tone of voice, can write a snappy headline and who knows the difference between clickable and clickbait. We want someone who is passionate about writing, who loves what we do and wants to be a part of Sound Alliance’s exciting new opportunity as we continue to grow the Editorial team.

Mid-Weight Designer

Australia’s leading youth publishing and communications company is looking for a Mid-Weight Designer to join our team.

Sound Alliance owns and operates FasterLouder, inthemix, Same Same, Mess+Noise and Mumbrella’s 2014 Media Brand of The Year, Junkee, as well as representing titles Pitchfork, NME and The Hype Machine in Australia. Together, these titles have a combined monthly unique audience of more than 1.7 million Australians.

The ideal candidate has a few years experience as a graphic or web designer, with a particular focus on layout, typography, responsive design, print / brochure production and web development.

You will be working with our production, marketing, editorial and sales teams across all of our titles to produce campaign assets and creative for multiple uses. It could be banner ads and EDMs for marketing, logos for campaigns, presentation templates, infographics for editorial, user interface enhancements for our titles, implementing wireframes or creating stunning longform features. You’ll therefore need to be a versatile designer who is well versed in Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, Indesign and Flash. You will report directly to Sound Alliance’s Technical Lead.

inthemix Staff Writer

We’re searching for an exceptional writer to join the world’s leading electronic music media, inthemix. ITM covers all aspects of dance music – from clubs to recordings, festivals to going out, and we’re looking for a Staff Writer to be based in Surry Hills and work across inthemix Australia and inthemix USA.

The ideal candidate will be a super fast writer with the ability to nail the right tone of each piece, delivering consistently high quality copy each time, every time. You will write daily news and features, reporting to the inthemix Editor and Deputy Editor . You’ll be well versed in social media and how to get your content seen as widely as possible, so a proven track record of amplifying content digitally will be looked upon very favourably.

Account Manager

Australia’s leading youth publishing and communications company is looking for an exceptional Account Manager to join our team.

Together, these titles have a combined monthly unique audience of more than 1.7 million Australians.

Sound Alliance are the pioneers of native advertising in Australia, and use insights from the audience and titles to help brands communicate with 18 to 35 year-old Australians. We’re on the lookout for an experienced Account Manager to join our Surry Hills team.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Account Manager from either a creative, digital or content agency or maybe even an online publisher. You have an innate understanding of social media and the power of online content, and how to make great content spread. Your flair for delivering projects on time and under budget will be matched by your capacity to keep all stakeholders informed and reports up to the minute. You will ideally have a passion for pop culture and the ability to create content yourself with experience producing and publishing written or video content.

Reporting directly to the Content Director, you’ll be responsible for executing our clients’ digital content strategies. You will deliver multiple ongoing content and social campaigns working with our design, tech and production teams to project manage them, as well as working directly with clients to ensure their campaigns are excelling.
