Walt Jr Is Coming To Australia; Will Shockingly Talk About Things Other Than Breakfast
Tickets just went on sale to hear RJ Mitte speak about disability and discrimination.
Despite becoming famous for indiscriminately calling everything “bullshit” and funnelling eggs and cereal into his face like it’s his last day on earth, actor RJ Mitte seems a hell of a lot more interesting than his breakthrough character Walt Jr on Breaking Bad. At 22 years old, he’s already established himself as an actor, explored production, become both a DJ and a model, and done incredible work as a disability activist.
Now, he’s coming to Australia.
In a tour presented by both The Wheeler Centre and the Sydney Opera House, RJ Mitte will be speaking in both Melbourne and Sydney this October about his experiences as a person with cerebral palsy. Titled ‘Overcoming Adversity’, the talk is intended to raise awareness about the ongoing discrimination and struggles many people with disability face — terrain which the actor frequently delves into in the US.
In the past few years, Mitte has signed on as a celebrity ambassador of United Cerebral Palsy, an union advocate for actors with disabilities, and a spokesperson for both the National Disability Institute’s Real Economic Impact Tour and I AM PWD — a campaign that aims for more inclusion and diversity of people with disabilities in the entertainment industry.
If you’d like to see him roll all that up into one extremely compassionate and articulate speech, here he is talking at the University of Charleston last year:
If you’d like to see him do all that in person, tickets just went on sale:
