This Female Shark Ate A Male Shark Because He Wouldn’t Get Out Of Her Personal Space

Women have long complained of the ubiquitous “manspread”: a popular male sitting position, where the knees are spread wide apart, normally on public transport. It’s not uncommon to walk onto a train or bus, and see all the women passengers perched on the very end of their chairs, as their male neighbours take up more than their fair share of the seating space. Personal space is important, so when women are constantly finding themselves sandwiched between two strangers’ legs, frustrations are aired — and they often fall on deaf ears.

But one woman in South Korea has had enough, and is claiming back her space with force. Yesterday, a female shark in a Seoul aquarium got so fed up with a male shark bumping into her, she ate him — head and everything. Empowering stuff.

The 8-year-old female sand tiger shark started eating the 5-year-old male banded hound shark after what was likely a turf war. “Sharks have their own territories,” an aquarium employee told Reuters. “Sometimes, when they bump into each other, they bite out of astonishment.”

Apparently, it took her 21 hours to eat him, and she’s expected to regurgitate the remains at some point — which will be great for when the school kids come through.

Thankfully, this is a digital era, and you needn’t miss out on seeing a female shark eat the hell out of a male shark. Here’s video footage of the action:
