Everything That Happened At Today’s MTV Movie Awards
Featuring Zac Efron's shirtless torso, mainly.
Earlier today, the world’s most bankable stars (and, uh, Johnny Drama from Entourage) gathered at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles for the MTV Movie Awards. The annual ceremony — which has a reputation for being one of Hollywood’s most unpredictable, you know, the kind of awards show that gives prizes to Oz: The Great And Powerful and honorary statues to Channing Tatum for his contribution to cinematic arts (not joking) — was hosted by lanky hero, Conan O’Brien. But did it live up to its wacky hype?
I am sitting behind my old friend Eminem at the MTV Movie Awards tonight. And I am feeling super chatty.

Grumpy Cat won the red carpet
Somewhere, Pharrell is feeling naked.

He only just survived a late challenge from Rihanna, though.

Jared Leto arrived at the awards via a helicopter from Coachella
‘Cause he’s a fucking rockstar, maaaaan. And then he accepted the award for ‘Best On-Screen Transformation’ from his rumoured girlfriend, Lupita Nyong’o. This guy’s life at the moment is like the first two acts of a tragic biopic.
–
Rita Ora indecently assaulted Zac Efron
The guy won the award for ‘Best Shirtless Performance’ for That Awkward Moment (mysteriously known in this country as Are We Dating Yet?) ; what did he think was gonna happen?
Nicki Minaj enjoyed it:

Seth Rogen made out with his mum
Well, someone had to save the segment, after the awards’ signature ‘Best Kiss’ trophy went to Will Poulter, Jennifer Aniston and Emma Roberts for We’re The Millers (who? Was that a movie?). Let’s pretend that it really is his mum.
–
The Hunger Games‘ Josh Hutcherson is a better actor than Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Matthew McConaughey combined, obviously
Credibility, who needs it? Josh Hutcherson took the ‘Best Male Performance’ award for his affecting Method-work in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, snatching the statue straight outta the clutches of his perennially overrated fellow nominees, including Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey. Also, he was the only one who attended, so that was convenient.
Damn, he actually thinks it means something.
–
Marky Mark is our generation’s Brando
The guy picked up MTV’s ‘Generation Award’ for his remarkable career, but mainly that chest-thumping scene in Fear.
–
Conan O’Brien’s best jokes were on Twitter
His intro — which featured Paul Rudd, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Silverman, Jack White, and 40-something other celebrity cameos in a record-breaking attempt — might’ve tried to match Ellen’s Oscars selfie, but sadly, his tweets had a better chance of breaking the internet than anything he did on the show.

So much amazing art backstage at the @MTV #MovieAwards. For instance, here’s a replica of Rodin’s “Pull My Finger.” pic.twitter.com/J5UwkjKOpC

‘Movie Of The Year’ went to…
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, obviously. What, you were expecting the kids to vote for 12 Years A Slave or something? Johnny Depp presented the thing dressed as ‘beatnik Crocodile Dundee lost in a fire’.

Grumpy Cat probably summed up the whole thing best
