This morning the White House physician, Dr Ronny Jackson, released the full details of President Donald Trump’s first physical exam since taking office.

The overall picture painted by Jackson is positive for Trump. According to Dr Jackson the President is in “excellent health” and his cardiac risk is low. Trump was also screened for cognitive issues and Alzheimer’s disease, and the results of both tests came back with good news.

The published details of the physical also include Trump’s exact height and weight, for everyone curious about that kind of information. Trump is 75 inches tall (190.5 cm) and weighs 239 pounds (108 kg).

It’s Trump’s weight that has caught a few people’s attention because it turns he weighs exactly the same, pound-for-pound, as another extremely famous American: Homer Simpson.

Yup, it looks like Trump and Homer share more in common than their middle-initial.

The Simpsons writers have gone out of their way on a number of occasions to inform us of Homer’s weight. In the season one episode ‘Homer’s Night Out’, which first aired in 1990, Homer steps on his bathroom scales which reveal his weight to be 239 pounds.

“Oh no!” Homer exclaims, after seeing his weight. “Two-hundred-and-thirty-nine pounds! I’m a whale! Why was I cursed with this weakness for snack treats?”

In the season two episode ‘Brush with Greatness’ Homer notices he’s put on a bit of weight and decides to shed some pounds. After a successful exercise regime Homer steps back onto the bathroom scales (which, interestingly, appear to be a different set of scales to the ones in ‘Homer’s Night Out’), and they reveal his weight to be somewhere between 235 and 240 pounds.

Homer then says “Marge, I’m 239 and I’m feeling fine”, confirming his precise weight.

Then in the season seven episode ‘King-Size Homer’, Homer tries to reach a target weight of 300 pounds in order to qualify as “disabled” and work from home. While we don’t see his weight on a set of scales this time around, we are told that he needs to add an extra 61 pounds to get to his target. That again confirms he was 239 pounds.

So there you go. On numerous occasions writers on The Simpsons have confirmed Homer’s weight of 239 pounds, and it turns out that is exactly what Donald Trump weighs. What does that mean? Literally nothing, but it’s an interesting (sort of) coincidence.

It’s not the first time the show has predicted Trump-related incidents. An episode from the year 2000 actually predicted a Donald Trump presidency.
More recently the series has savaged the Trump administration’s many, many deficiencies:
