In a piece of casting news that should make my fellow nerds very, very happy, actor and rapper Donald Glover will play a young Lando Calrissian in the standalone Han Solo movie, due in cinemas in 2018.

“This new film depicts Lando in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld — years before the events involving Han, Leia, and Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back,” reads the casting announcement on Starwars.com.

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller told the website. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”

The Community and Atlanta actor will star alongside Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo. He will also appear in next year’s Spiderman: Homecoming in an undisclosed role, because some people get to have all the fun.

The untitled Han Solo movie hits cinemas in 2018.
