Coldplay And The Cast Of ‘Game Of Thrones’ Unite For ‘Game Of Thrones: The Musical’

It's for Red Nose Day in the USA. It looks like it's going to be ridiculous.

Red Nose Day has been a biennial institution in the UK for the last 30 years, peaking in live and televised fundraising comedy events encouraging the public to ‘do something funny for money’ (read: don the horrifying iconography of clowns) in an effort to raise funds for children living in poverty.

This year marks the first time the USA has been involved, with a three-hour televised comedy special set to air on the NBC tomorrow hosted by Seth Myers, David Duchovny and Jane Krakowski, and featuring Will Ferrell, Nick Offerman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Helen Mirren, Jodie Foster, Neil Patrick Harris, Pharrell, Ian McKellen and more.

NBC released a few teasers overnight to help promote the event, one of which features Peter Dinklage backed by brass and a trio of ladies, singing an ode to his lost friends and foes on Game of Thrones.

“Baby you know, I’m a man for all seasons / Characters get cut for various reasons / Some people’s parts just ain’t very long / But not me — I’m still going strong.”

Out of context that clip would be good enough to post, but look a little deeper and you’ll find that the video pre-empts just one of what we hope to be many moments of the forthcoming Game of Thrones: The Musical — a collaboration between Coldplay and the cast of Game Of Thrones, which will be broadcast as part of the NBC special.

Coldplay uploaded their own teaser overnight, featuring the band and basically almost the entire Game of Thrones cast singing the word “bum” over and over again. For charity!

Red Nose Day in Australia is held on the last Sunday of June, to raise money for Sids And Kids.
