Back at the start of the year international cricketer Chris Gayle was called out by numerous journalists for making sexist comments to women attempting to interview him. In January Gayle was fined $10,000 after asking Network Ten reporter Mel McLaughlin out for a drink during a live interview. “Don’t blush baby,” he infamously said to her on air. Afterwards he apologised by saying, “It was a joke. She knew that. That’s who I am, the joker.”

Neroll Meadows, a reporter for Fox Sports, later called him “a repeat offender” who “does it purely to humiliate that person in that public arena.”

Gayle apparently hasn’t changed, as a recent interview in The Times Of London shows. While writer Charlotte Edwardes tries to question him he boasts about having “a very, very big bat, the biggest in the wooooorld”, asks how many black men she has “had”, if she’s ever had a threesome and then whether she dyes her pubic hair.

Elsewhere in the story Gayle – who has a strip club installed in his own house – claims that 10,000 women have thrown themselves at him. When asked whether he throws himself at women, he replies: “Your questions, you suck me dry.”

On the subject of women’s rights, he says that “Women should have equality and they do have equality. They have more than equality. Women can do what they want.”
