Childish Gambino Just Hinted He Might Be Calling It Quits And Everything Is Bad

As a small consolation: he did get in on the 'Redbone' meme at last night's show.

Because life is pain and all good things must die, Childish Gambino has effectively confirmed his next album will be his last.

After closing out his set last night at the NYC Governors Ball with his 2016-hit ‘Redbone’, Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, told the crowd, “you’re in my heart, I’ll see you later for the last Gambino album.”

As sad as this news is for fans, it won’t come as a complete surprise; Glover told The Today Show last year that, while he’ll always want to do music in some form, he envisioned Childish Gambino as a finite stage of his career:

“I guess Childish Gambino is like a period of my art time, and I want to have periods in my life,” Glover said. “So I feel like Childish Gambino is a period that should come to a close. I like endings.”

I mean, he’s wrong, endings are terrible, but it is his decision I guess.

Considering he’s mastered everything from writing to stand-up to comedy acting to very serious acting to rap to producing to inspiring the newest Spider-Man, Glover will undoubtedly create something new and wonderful we can all fall in love with next.

But folks, looks like Childish Gambino is just about dead. Long live Donald Glover.

As a small consolation: Glover also got in on the recent meme-ing of ‘Redbone’ last night. It was as good as you’d expect.
