Like many regular humans I had minimal interest in the ridiculous Mamma Mia sequel, which stars a whole bunch of actors who sing (but probably shouldn’t). But if Cher is going to be in it? Damnit, I have to care now.

Over the weekend, Cher tweeted out this crypic clue to her upcoming film role, which had tongues everywhere wagging.

And overnight Variety has confirmed that, yes, Cher will join the cast of the Mamma Mia sequel, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again (solid title imo). Cher will join original cast members Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Amanda Seyfried and Christine Baranski for some more singing and shimmying on the Greek Isles. And, look, I know there are a lot of ABBA songs, but honestly how are there any good ones left for a sequel?

Personally I am particularly excited about the return of Christine Baranski, who performed a song in the original film about how much younger men want to fuck her, which was amazing and inspired. I love Christine Baranski a lot.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again will return to the story of Donna and her three lovers (which, in the first film served as the big mystery: which of Donna’s three blokes is Sophie’s father), but this time it’ll flashback to Young Donna, Sam, Bill and Harry. This is probably to mitigate the fact that Stellan Skarsgard and Pierce Brosnan are apparently too good to “Go Again” on Mamma Mia 2.

Anyway, who cares about those guys because CHER HAS LANDED. Cher is joining the cast of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again and honestly I can’t think of anything on this putrid earth I’m more interested in at this moment in time. Serious fans of Cher will know she’ll do an excellent job in Mamma Mia because of that time she played every role in a one-woman production of West Side Story (aka the best video on the internet).

Now we get Cher. In an ABBA jumpsuit. Please, bring it on immediately.
