If you’re of a certain vintage, you’ll remember Charmed, the classic show about witches, sisterhood and hot demons. Because everything old is new again — and because nostalgia sells, baby — there’s a reboot coming. And now there’s a trailer for the reboot!

The reboot is basically the exact same story again, with three sisters discovering they have magic powers after the death of their mother. The drama comes from conflict with the supernatural, marauding demons and murder, and also the fact that three adult siblings have been forced to move into the same house together.

This time around, instead of the Halliwell sisters, we’ve got the Vera sisters—Macy (Madeline Mantock), Mel (Melonie Diaz) and Maggie (Sarah Jeffery).

It seems to be a very loving homage to the original show, which was absolutely perfect television.

But fans have been sceptical about the reboot since it was announced, thanks in part to Charmed icon Holly Marie Coombs — who wasn’t exactly excited about the project.

In response, Mark Pedowitz, president of Charmed’s TV network The CW, said that he hopes negative critics give the reboot a shot.

“Hopefully they would give this new cast a chance. It is not quite the same, yet there are many similarities. Hopefully they’ll give it a shot. We are happy with who we cast, we think it’s a nice mix. We’re thrilled that Jennie Snyder Urman has reimagined it somewhat and I can only say to fans: Before you make a decision, watch the series.”

But the scepticism is extremely thick, even after the release of the trailer.

There are still people who are cautiously excited, though:

I guess we’ll just have to watch the show and see if The Power of Three carries over. Charmed will air on the CW later this this year; there’s no word yet on an Australian release.
