Here Are Those Overtly Sexual Melbourne Transport-Themed Valentine’s Cards You Wanted!
FINALLY.
This Sunday is Valentine’s Day and, let’s be real, it’s getting fairly predictable. Fancy dinners. Chocolates. $20 roses. A deep-seated sense of hatred and self-loathing when scrolling through your Facebook feed. Whether you’re in a relationship or not, it’s time for something different to get its due.
And hell, that something may as well be extremely specific comic sans-filled e-cards which channel all your pent up sexual energy through Melbourne’s transport system.
Covering trams, trains, buses, and planes, the collection was first made by Melbourne transport lover Mitchell Sheldrick last year and was recently updated yesterday for the new year. Posting the pictures on Facebook and tumblr, Sheldrick says he’s happy for his masterpieces to be shared by fellow devotees, but also points out the special meaning they have for him on a personal level.
“Way back in 2007 … I suffered a slipped upper femoral epiphysis which meant that I was wheelchair bound for a total of around four years before I was somewhat back on my feet. For eight months in 2007, I wasn’t allowed to leave the house at all.
“The reason I became so interested in firstly trains, then trams and buses, is because the trains offered me, for the first time, the ability to move completely independently, without having to be driven around or rely on other to do things for me. For the first time in four long years, I was completely free, and it was fantastic. My fascination grew from there and I’ve developed into the person I currently am, although I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not.”
I think we can all agree he seems pretty alright.
