The Captain Marvel Trailer Just Dropped And It Features Brie Larson Crashing Into A Blockbuster
Finally some new info after that Avengers: Infinity War cliffhanger.
Fans now have their first trailer for Marvel’s newest superhero, Captain Marvel — the half-human, half-alien, all Brie Larson character that’s set to dominate the superheroes-with-origins-stories-in-the-’90s market.
Seriously — we’ve got Captain America and Agent Carter coming from the World Wars era, and DC’s Wonder Woman came to be during the Cold War. But then there’s a huge gap before the rest of the Marvel universe gains prominence in the 21st century.
Larson’s Captain Marvel is set the take over the ’90s, and you’ll know about it. The film’s trailer is littered with ’90s references. Captain Marvel crash lands into a Blockbuster in the first few seconds, Nick Fury very obviously checks his pager later, and older-looking cars, sunglasses and clothes appear throughout.
“The ’90s doesn’t feel that long ago to us because we’re really old,” one of two directors Anna Boden told Entertainment Weekly. “But doing this movie has really made us realise how out-of-date so much stuff from the ’90s actually is, and we’ve been having a lot of fun with that.”
From the trailer, it looks like this film will focus heavily on Captain Marvel’s origin, giving fans an understanding of where she comes from and what she believes in.
We already knew that Marvel will give Larson’s character a greater role in the Marvel universe from here on in. The end credits of Avengers: Infinity War showed Fury reaching out to her.
And it looks like the film will develop the relationship between Fury and Captain Marvel further. The trailer doesn’t go for long before Fury (still with two eyes) runs into Captain Marvel.

Fury will be joined by S.H.I.E.L.D’s Agent Phil Coulson, who is briefly seen whipping off his sunglasses in the trailer.
And in a not-so-subtle gesture, Captain Marvel is due to come out on International Women’s Day: 8 March.
