Fans of the Shrek franchise can go ahead and relax: Cameron Diaz is not retiring from acting, despite what you may have heard.

Reports of the movie star’s permanent sabbatical exploded after her friend and follow actress Selma Blair gave an interview to Metro. Speaking about their 2002 film The Sweetest Thing, Blair casually dropped the following:

“I had lunch with Cameron the other day. We were reminiscing about the film. I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron’s retired from acting. She’s like ‘I’m done’.”

“I mean, she doesn’t need to make any more films. She has a pretty great life, I don’t know what it would take to bring her back. She’s happy.”

A bunch of celebrity news outlets ran with the story, with a number of them suggesting the reason for Diaz’s supposed retirement was that she wanted to spend more time with her husband.

But now it turns out ol’ Selma Blair was taking everyone for a ride. Earlier today, she tweeted that she had, in fact, been joking, and that Diaz was not going anywhere.

Thus ended the great Cameron Diaz retirement scare of 2018. Everyone please carry on with your lives.
