Britney Spears Just Sold Her Watercolour Painting For $10,000 And What Have You Done Today
Turns out perfection does have a price.
As we’ve previously discussed at length, Britney Spears’ Instagram is truly a weird and wonderful place.
While she usually concerns herself with posting poignant Bible verses, Windows screensavers, and old pictures of Cameron Diaz’s tomato vines, lately Brit has been trying her hand at a new venture: watercolour painting.
A few weeks ago Spears posted a video of herself luxuriously slapping some watercolours on a canvas (while Mozart’s ‘Rondo Alla Turca’ blared in the background, no less) complete with the classically Britney caption “Sometimes you just gotta play!!!!!!”
Because Spears is a legend, she ended up donating the painting to a charity auction benefitting the victims of the Las Vegas shooting — where it just sold for a whopping $10,000.
“The flowers in my painting represent a new beginning, and it’s in that spirit that we move forward,” explained Spears in a video message to the auction crowd. “All the proceeds from the winning bid go to Vegas Cares Memorial Fund. I appreciate your kindness and your generosity — I love you Vegas.”
The guy that took it home was (curiously enough) Robin Leach, the former host of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Along with being the winner bidder, Leach was actually the auctioneer of the auction — meaning that he was either so desperate for the painting that he rigged it so he would win, or…no one else put in a bid.
Whatever the case, he looks pretty bloody chuffed about it:
