Briggs Has Made A Much Better Version Of That Dodgy Bill Shorten Ad
CC: Labour Party.
Earlier this week Bill Shorten took some sales lessons off a dude who runs a failing Subaru dealership (probably, fact check this), and tried to sell the Labour Party to a whole lot of xenophobic white people.
The resulting ad — which borrowed Turnbull’s lines about putting “Australians first” and featured an awful lot of white faces — was roundly criticised by both constituents and politicians within Shorten’s own party. Less than 24 hours later, he apologised for it admitting the criticism was actually a bloody fair shake of the sauce bottle and people had some grouse points; a bit more diversity it there would be bloody ripper.
Some people have pointed out the lack of diversity in the ALP’s video about local jobs. Fair cop. A bad oversight that won’t happen again.

The Weekly correspondent and all-round legend Briggs has now given ol’ mate a bit of a helping hand. On last night’s episode, Briggs offered up his own version of the ad called “First Australians First”.
“I’m worried about jobs for our kids in the future. The unemployment rate for Indigenous Australians is over 20 percent, yet the Labour Party thinks they lack the skills to stand being as tradies in political ads. A Briggs Government will give the jobs of pretending to have other jobs to Indigenous Australian actors.”
“Look at the lamb ads — that’s about killing and eating baby sheep; but you throw in a bit of colour and it’s the feel-good story of the year.”
This week Bill Shorten released a new political ad.
It wasn’t very good.
