The genius of Game of Thrones is that, even after watching scores of your favourite characters get brutally murdered before your eyes, it can still hold out a tiny, feeble branch of hope that something in Westeros might have a happy ending. Certainly that was the collective desire that saw fans seize on wildling Tormund’s giant, adorable adolescent crush on Brienne of Tarth in recent episodes as proof the world holds some fragment of goodness after all.
LOVE IS REAL, DAMN IT.
#Briemund has already inspired several Libraries of Alexandrias worth of fanfic, but they’re far more suited to the most romantic genre of all — the terrible ’90s romantic comedy, hammy voiceovers and all.
