Forget the leaked version. This is the trailer we deserve.

It’s been nearly two full years since controversial Man Of Steel director Zack Snyder told us he’d be uniting Batman and Superman for a new film, and — much more importantly than that — the caped crusader would be played by Ben Affleck. Sending the internet into an unmitigated panic that Batman would soon be as terrible as Daredevil and all their childhood heroes were lies, it’s a move that was equal parts cruel as it was genius.

Since then, we’ve been sustained by cheeky photos from the set as we excitedly await and desperately dread the full spectacle of Batfleck. And, though the film won’t be released until March 2016, we now have our first proper look; the first official teaser trailer has just been released in all it’s soaring, growling, brooding glory.

Though it was scheduled to debut at a special IMAX screening next week, the clip was posted ahead of time after a poor-quality leaked version went online yesterday. Snyder shared the teaser on Twitter this morning with the kind of pissed off, kind of passive aggressive hashtags “#NotBlurry #NotPirated”.

As for the trailer itself, people are still pretty sceptical about the film following its meh-diocre predecessor Man Of Steel and the fact the number of superheroes on our screens right now has just reached critical mass. (A single episode of Kimmel last week featured Paul Rudd promoting Ant-man by destroying a living room, and the full cast of The Avengers playing Family Feud.) But despite all this, it looks like Affleck’s fancy new suit and spectacularly frowny face could soon be winning over some naysayers.

Long live the Batfleck!

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice will premiere March 25, 2016.
