Get Hyped: Barack Obama Is Coming To Australia For One Night Only
Obama comin'.
Has the Trump presidency got you feeling down? Are you yearning for the time there was a much cooler, slightly less war-mongery guy in charge? Good news! Barack Obama is back baby, and he’s coming to Sydney!
The 44th President of the United States will visit Australia next month as part of a brief speaking tour organised by the New Zealand United States Council.
Obama will deliver a speech in Auckland on March 22, which is expected to cover trade and economic policy, before heading to Sydney on March 23 for a talk at the Art Gallery of NSW.
“President Obama’s presidency had an extraordinary impact on the world and during his service both Australia’s and New Zealand’s deep relationships with the United States were strengthened politically, culturally, in trade and investment, innovation and security,” New Zealand United States Council chairman Leon Grice said in a statement to The Sydney Morning Herald.
There are no details yet on ticket availability or pricing, but demand is likely to be off the charts given it’s, y’know, Obama.
Meanwhile former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is charging nearly $200 for tickets to the Australian leg of the promo tour for her book What Happened. She’ll be in the country in May, meaning Obama will slip in before her — again.
