Humanity’s dominion over the animal kingdom was called into question in far north Queensland yesterday afternoon, after a cow went head to head with a helicopter…and won.

According to local police, the cow, which resides on a cattle station near Coen, allegedly got its horns caught in the railing beneath the bottom of a Robinson R22 Beta mustering helicopter. The encounter caused the chopper to come crashing down on a nearby road where it promptly burst into flames.

“As a result of the rough landing the helicopter has caught fire and been totally destroyed. The Rural Fire Service attended the crash site and extinguished the aircraft,” reads the police report. “The pilot a 35-year-old Richmond man walked away from the crash without any injury.”

“The cow escaped becoming roast beef and lived to roam another day,” it added.

Police are currently investigating the incident, but are yet to ascertain the cow’s motive. Reports that this is the beginning of some kind of coordinated bovine uprising cannot be confirmed at this time.
