Ayy, Y’all Heard About The Good News?
The news is full of negative things that can get you down. So we're bringing you the best of all the good stuff that happened this week.
It’s been a pretty rough week for news. The threat of a North Korean nuclear attack potentially targeting Australia, seems to be ramping up. A federal politician has been vilified by a vicious and baseless rumour just because she’s a Muslim. Half the country is still losing their damn minds about a seven-word Facebook post.
There’s a lot of negativity going around, and speaking as someone who reports on it everyday, it can really get you down.
So we’re going to push back a bit by focusing on the good news stories you might have missed across culture, entertainment and politics. Enjoy!
The Blue-Tongued Lizard Saved By CPR
Meet Dusty, the blue-tongued lizard.
Caloundra local Dale Hall found poor old Dusty lying on the bottom of his pool, so naturally he fished it out and proceeded to administer CPR. Unbelievably, Dusty slowly rattled back to life, after the water drained out of its lungs.
The lizard is now being rehabilitated by a local wildlife rescue centre and will be released somewhere near Dale’s backyard. Hopefully this time it won’t try and go for a cheeky swim.
What a heartwarming story about Dusty, the lizard who didn’t die.
There’s A New M&Ms Thing And It Looks Amazing
Check. This. Out.
I have no idea what to call this delicious bar of M&Ms goodness but it looks incredible. It’s like a chocolate bar embedded with M&Ms? The only disappointing thing is that there’s no peanut version (the best kind of M&Ms) but hazelnut is a decent substitute.
Unfortunately my local Woolies didn’t seem to stocking them so I haven’t been able to verify if they exist or are an elaborate hoax. If you find them, please get in touch.
Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper, Lil Wayne And More Are Collaborating On A Huge New DJ Khaled Track
Legendary producer and celebrity father DJ Khaled is getting ready to drop his tenth album, Grateful. The first single is set to drop tonight and it features Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Chance The Rapper and Quavo.
Did your brain just explode?
Grateful will also feature a Drake collab, despite the Toronto artist taking his sweet time delivering the vocals.
The new single is called ‘I’m The One’ and it lands 8pm Australian Eastern Time tonight. The track’s art features Khaled’s incredibly cute six-month old son, Asahd.
Harry Styles Keeps Saying Really Good Shit
Earlier this month Harry Styles used a Rolling Stone interview to defend the perspectives and interests of teenage girls, a demographic regularly ridiculed by sections of the media and by artists.
“Who’s to say that young girls who like pop music — short for popular, right? — have worse musical taste than a 30-year-old hipster guy? That’s not up to you to say,” he said.
Yesterday Styles discussed the issue of equality more generally on French TV show Quotidien. When he was asked about his “militant” stances on social equality, Styles replied: “That doesn’t feel like politics to me. Stuff like equality feels much more like fundamentals.”
Q: "(If you don’t comment on politics) then why are you militant about male-female equality and gay rights, that’s political too, no?" pic.twitter.com/3ov9owqhiu

Yet Another One Nation Candidate’s Political Career Is Over
This one is more like a story that started as bad news and ended up kind of good. Kind of.
Mark Ellis, a One Nation candidate for the Queensland state election who has a chequered history as a police officer, has quit after photos emerged of him saluting a swastika he had mowed into his lawn.
What a sentence. But wait for it, that’s not even the reason he quit!
Ellis pulled the plug after a story emerged accusing him of threatening to kill one of his former employees.
Like I said, this story is kind of good. There’s some pretty bad elements to it but the end result is Ellis’ political career is over and Pauline Hanson looks incredibly silly. We’ve got to take what we can get, ok.
