Tributes Pour In For Swedish DJ and Producer Avicii, Reported Dead at 28

The artist behind 'Levels' and 'Wake Me Up' has been reported dead.

Tim Bergling, the Swedish-born producer and DJ best known as Avicii has been found dead in Muscat, Oman. He was only 28 years old.

Avicii is a Grammy-nominated EDM DJ, who found success with his 2011 hit ‘Levels’. His most recognised song, ‘Wake Me Up’, was a multi-platinum hit and peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

He released two albums, 2013’s True and 2015’s Stories, before announcing in 2016 that he would retire from touring.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” said his publicist in a statement today.

“The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”

No more details about the cause of death were provided.
