Remember a few weeks ago, when we had to burst your bubble re: Arrested Development season five with the news that it probably won’t be on Australian Netflix? Well, today we can confirm: the only place you’ll be able to watch the new season in Australia is Foxtel.

Quick recap, if you missed this whole drama: as the savvy people at Student Edge noticed, Netflix doesn’t actually have the first-run rights to Arrested Development in Australia, despite this new season being a Netflix original. Those rights were sold off years ago in 2013, well before Australian Netflix was even a thing.

Netflix confirmed this to us two weeks ago, but Foxtel told us today that yep, the series will run on The Comedy Channel. They’ll have a special marathon event featuring the season’s first eight episodes back-to-back and express from the US on Wednesday, May 30th from 5pm, and they’ll also air it weekly on Mondays at 9pm from June 4.

Happy news if you have Foxtel, I guess, but sad times for the rest of us. The episodes will presumably come to Netflix eventually, but no word on when that is yet.
