UPDATE: This story incorrectly named Sandra Sully as the host of 60 Minutes, as opposed to Liz Hayes, who you may know as the host of 60 Minutes. Whoops.

If there were any lingering doubts that Adele is one of modern music’s true superstars, the release of ‘Hello’ last month dispelled them. Her first single in three years, ‘Hello’ generated an insane amount of hype for her upcoming third album 25, as well as some truly delightful memes featuring Mrs. Doubtfire.

25 is due out on Friday, but in the meantime a preview of another song off the new album, ‘When We Were Young’, has been released to spruik an exclusive interview Adele’s given to 60 Minutes Australia, of all places. Not one to engage in subtlety at the best of times, the ensuing promo from Channel Nine is chock-full of overwrought voiceovers, unnecessary crash-zooms, and Dramatic. Pauses. Between. Words. For. No. Reason.

Here’s Liz Hayes is watching Adele sing from behind a floodlight like Commissioner Gordon standing next to the Bat Signal.

“This is the radio-friendly power-pop ballad Gotham deserves, not the one it needs right now.”

The full interview goes to air at 8:10 on Sunday on Channel Nine, so work out how to hook up your TV to get Australian free-to-air channels if that’s your thing.
