The Internet Is Convinced Adele And Sam Smith Are Actually The Same Person

Having finally decided that eating dishwasher tablets isn’t such a good idea, the internet is now tearing itself to pieces over a wild new conspiracy theory that suggests English pop stars Adele and Sam Smith are actually the same person.

And fair enough too: one of them is a London-based pop star who writes sad songs and sings a James Bond theme songs, and the other is a London-based pop star who writes sad songs and sings a James Bond theme song. Seems legit.

The theory began doing the rounds a couple of weeks ago, when a Twitter user pointed out that Smith and Adele have never actually been pictured together:

The theory took hold, and suddenly the internet was ablaze with pitch-shifted “evidence” such as this:

Now I know what you’re thinking: this theory is definitely, 100% accurate.

Fans also noted that Adele and Smith have always been on opposite album cycles — when one is in the spotlight, the other disappears from public life — making the One Person theory more plausible. Other fans desperately searched for a picture of the two artists together…but came up with nothing.

Needless to say, people freaked the fuck out:

Consider this whole thing blown open. Adele/Smith/Whoever-The-Hell-It-Really-Is have yet to comment on the debacle.
