A Very Important, Highly Accurate History Of Jennifer Lawrence Falling Over

Last night J-Law tripped on a red carpet in Madrid while people laughed and screamed. This is a weirdly normal event in her life.

At last night’s Madrid premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part II — a film in which Jennifer Lawrence plays the stealthy, strong and resourceful leader of a resistance to overthrow a corrupt and violent dystopian government — J-Law fell over. On her way into the theatre, she tripped on her long, lacy Ralph Lauren gown and toppled to the ground amid a swarm of helpful security staff.

The incident was, of course, recorded by a fan who was beside the red carpet, and the resulting footage is backed by the unrelenting laughter of what seemed to be a gaggle of cruel and unfeeling young children screaming in ecstasy at her misfortune. It’s pretty good:

As it inevitably starts to do the rounds online, people are rightly pointing out this isn’t the first time it’s happened. Lawrence’s goofy antics like tripping over in fancy formal wear or throwing mints all over a press conference or stuffing ten giant marshmallows in her face during an interview are all part of her signature charm. She swears and sings and messes about with friends, then turns around and delivers harrowing dramatic performances and speaks out about issues like wage inequality. She’s the Hollywood everywoman.
