Your Comprehensive Guide To The Biopics Of 2015’s Award Season

Hollywood has been making films about famous people for as long as there have been films and famous people. And this is the time of year when they all start funneling into cinemas, in the hopes that their pure Worthiness and Specialness will attract a certain someone named Oscar.

Occasionally they succeed and strike gold, but many fail dismally: For every Academy Award winner like Milk (2008), there’s a JOBS (2013); for every Capote (2005) there’s a J. Edgar (2011); for every Erin Brockovich (2000) or Monster (2003) there’s a Diana (2014), or an Amelia (2009). This year comes with the very real possibility that all five nominees for Best Actor could be for portrayals of other famous men — a truly disappointing statistic if you think about it.

To prepare, here is a handy guide to who is who in what’s coming soon to cinemas — including names like Clint Eastwood, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Angelina Jolie, Mike Leigh, The Coen Brothers, Oprah Winfrey, Tim Burton and more — presented in chronological order of release.
