In your 20s, you’ll experience many different people coming in and out of your life.

From the micromanaging boss to the passive-aggressive housemate, to a new friend you feel like you’ve known all your life, these people help shape you as a person. Here’s seven you’re bound to come across.

#1 The Shitty Boss

Ideally we all want to have the most amazing, supportive boss around but unfortunately, that’s not always possible. Throughout your 20s, you might have a boss who’s a micromanager, has anger issues, has favourites or was just sent from hell to torment you.

It’s unlikely anyone will get through their career without dealing with a boss who can suck the morale out of the office and drain any available oxygen from the conference room.

However, you can learn tricks on how to deal with them. Or, when you’re looking for your next job, do some research into who your future boss is and see if they have something permanently stuck up their ass or not.

#2 The One Who Has Their Life Together

We all know one. You’re probably picturing them right now! They have a strong presence on social media where they like to narrate their amazing lives. They have a great job, they’re completing a law degree, they never cease to be the life of any party, and are constantly being invited to cool events.

When you’re trying to pay off your uni debt in the holidays, they’re the ones in some exotic place, displaying that toned body and eating vegan stir-fry.

#3 The Passive Aggressive Housemate

First impressions can be deceiving. That perfect roommate you thought you were moving in with morphs into this crazy passive-aggressive housemate who leaves dirty dishes everywhere, has really loud sex with their partner and doesn’t know what volume control is when it comes to their shitty music.

It can be hard living with someone, especially when they leave an old milk container in the fridge waiting for the cleaner. But chances are if you find their habits annoying, they probably think the same about yours.

#4 The Brand New Friend Forever

They’re the friend that just popped out of nowhere. You didn’t see them coming but its like you’ve known them all your life.

They’re the gin to your tonic, you get along like a house on fire. You love spending afternoons together, never running out of conversation. You become each other’s rocks and when one of you is down, you bring the gin and dance the tears away like Meredith Grey and Christina Yang.

#5 The Perpetual Student

They have mastered the uni lifestyle. They know all the ins and outs, they’re besties with all the lecturers and have like 10 degrees under their belt by now. You hate to think what they’re going to do with their lives once they graduate for the final time. They’ll have no choice but to face that terrifying six-figure uni debt.

#6 The Person Who Broke Your Heart

No matter how hard you’ve tried to erase them from your life and remove them from your heart, you know they’ll never be forgotten.

They’ll lay dormant at the back of your mind for years but their name, a picture or just something that reminds you of them will always bring the memories flooding back.

#7 The Person Whose Lifestyle Makes No Financial Sense

You know they don’t have the finances to support the life they’re living. Well you don’t know know but come on! Who has just a casual part-time job and a full time study load and has the income to have Instagram worthy lunches, wearing all the clothes you can’t afford and rolling in cash on every outing?

Surely they must have some secret meth-cooking business out the back in their RV.
