Listen To A Ten-Minute Montage Of 2013
Each December, triple j's Marc Fennell and his partner, Radio National's Madeleine Genner, put together a ten-minute audio montage of the year's key moments as we heard them.
Did you close your eyes and block your ears through most of this year? Do you have a gaping memory hole when it comes to current affairs? Are you, like me, just heaps into montages?
For the past few Decembers, triple j’s Marc Fennell and his partner, Radio National’s Madeleine Genner, have put together a ten-minute audio montage, highlighting the key moments of the year as we heard them.
“Maddy is producer of Radio National Breakfast,” Fennell explains. “She pulls together all the grabs throughout the year, and I pull together the music and cut it together. It takes about one and a half days to do — then an additional two days of us arguing about volumes, then one day of couples counselling, and then we export it with renewed faith in our marriage.”
The montage of 2013 was just uploaded, and covers the bushfires, the spills, the Boston bombing, Edward Snowden, the Philippines typhoon, Lou Reed, Mr. Yunupingu, and, of course, Jaymz “six point plan” Diaz. And when Malala Yousafzai comes on, yep, you get shivers.
